A blepharoplasty is the term used to describe the surgical procedure for the removal of excess skin from drooping eyelids.
Today, thanks to PlexR, it is possible to correct drooping eyelids non-surgically. This procedure is known as a medical blepharoplasty.
PlexR, which stands for “Plasma Exeresis”, creates an ion- and electron- rich energy (known as plasma) which ‘sublimes’ (sublimation is the physical term for the direct transition from the solid to the gaseous state) the superficial layer of the skin, without causing any pain.
PlexR looks like a large pen and targets specific areas of the skin very accurately. When the doctor holds the PlexR tip one millimetre away from the skin, plasma is generated and immediate skin retraction follows, without any bleeding.
PlexR is primarily indicated for the removal of excess skin from drooping eyelids (blepharoplasty).
But, depending on the intensity of plasma generated, other indications may be treated :
– Periorbital and perioral wrinkles, neck wrinkles, skin slackening
– Facial brown spots, white spots, stretch marks, acne scars
– Angioma, acne, xanthelasma, warts
Firstly, an anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area to be treated.
This means the patient will not perceive any pain during the procedure. The doctor will then ask the patient to open and close his eyes so that excess skin to be removed can be identified to effectively target the PlexR shots.
The latter will be fired using a zigzag or triangle motion for a period of one second. This will then result in immediate skin retraction.
Small scabs, which must not be picked or scratched, will form and heal within 8 to 10 days.
The patient may experience a very brief, slight sensation of heat, but surrounding tissue will not be affected.
– A healing, anti-UV tinted moisturiser must be applied until the scabs have healed.
– The area treated must not be exposed to sunlight during the month following the procedure, because hyperpigmentation may occur.
Patients may require a maximum of 3 PlexR sessions, depending on the amount of excess skin to be removed. An interval of one month is required between 2 PlexR sessions.
Skin retraction occurs immediately after PlexR treatment, peaking after several days.
Following treatment, the results will last for a minimum of 2 years.
